Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how CommandR Labs LLC collects, uses, and protects information when you use Cmd-R, our website, and related services.

Information we collect

  • Account and subscription information, such as your email address, subscription status, and usage limits.
  • Device information generated by the app, including a random device ID used to provide free minutes, subscription access, and quota checks.
  • Audio you intentionally record when you use Cmd-R for transcription.
  • Transcription results returned to the app so they can be pasted where you are working.
  • Payment and checkout information processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Basic website analytics, diagnostics, and log data, such as page views, request metadata, and error information.

How we use information

  • To provide speech-to-text transcription and paste the resulting text into your selected app.
  • To manage free usage, subscriptions, billing, and account access.
  • To troubleshoot errors, improve reliability, and keep Cmd-R working across Mac and Windows.
  • To prevent abuse, secure the service, and respond to support requests.

Audio and transcriptions

  • When you record, Cmd-R sends the audio to CommandR Labs servers, which send it to OpenAI for transcription.
  • We do not intentionally store your audio on our servers after the transcription request completes.
  • We do not use your audio or transcripts to train our own models.
  • The desktop app may keep recent transcript results, failed recordings, or retryable errors locally in the app while it is open so you can recover or retry a transcription.

Service providers

  • We use vendors to operate Cmd-R, including hosting, database, analytics, payments, and AI transcription providers.
  • Current providers may include Vercel, Neon, Stripe, OpenAI, Cloudflare, GitHub, Microsoft Azure, and analytics or advertising tools configured for the website.
  • These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.

Sharing

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We may share information with service providers, when required by law, to protect Cmd-R and our users, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

Retention

  • We keep account, device, subscription, usage, and transaction records for as long as needed to operate Cmd-R, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse.
  • Audio sent for transcription is processed to complete the request and is not intentionally retained by CommandR Labs after the request finishes.

Your choices

  • You can stop using Cmd-R at any time and uninstall the desktop app from your device.
  • You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information associated with your account, subject to legal and operational limits.
  • You can manage billing and subscription choices through the checkout or subscription flow provided in the product.

Security

  • We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security.
  • If we learn of a security issue that affects your information, we will take appropriate steps to investigate and respond.

Children

  • Cmd-R is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

  • We may update this policy as Cmd-R changes. When we do, we will update the date on this page.
